For generations, we have been checking our children’s trick-or-treat bags and throwing away certain items that have chances of being tampered with. Yet, every year my children come home with the candies that make the list to be thrown out! Save your money, and time by not purchasing or making these items to pass out!

See “Guidelines to Checking Halloween Candy

Here’s a list of what NOT to buy, or hand out to trick-or-treaters:

  • Homemade food  (brownies, cookies, caramel apples, popcorn etc.)
  • Fruit or Vegetables
  • Treats with Twist wrappers (Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, Suckers, etc.)
  • Treats in Boxes, that are not Sealed. (Raisins)
  • Loose Unwrapped Candy
  • Jelly Fruit Candy Skewers (Home Made)

No, No, No! Should be filled with Wrapped candy!

To ensure your treats don’t get tossed, stick to the candy or treats that are in sealed packages!

If you’d like to skip candy altogether, check out “Halloween Treats without the Sweets

Happy Halloween!
