I will never forget the day my daughter turned one! It was such an emotional day for me. For her actual birthday, we spent the day at the Detroit Zoo for her first time and came home to a dinner and smash cake with our immediate family.
That following Saturday, we hosted her “Ice Cream Shoppe” Party at my parents Home with about 80 of our closest friends and family. Here’s a look at some of the details that were included in her big day!
For the invitations, I took photos of her myself and incorporated them into the cards. The invites were customized and ordered from the Hostess with the Mostess on Etsy.
Savannah wore a coordinating Ice Cream cone tutu dress by Mud Pie to go with her theme and I incorporated a similar Ice cream outfit for the photos on the invitations as well!
The party consisted of two bounce houses, glitter tattoos, and face painting done by FunWithSparkles.com. We also had Cold Stone come out and cater the event, with guests being able to create their own ice cream sundaes with different cold stone flavors, and toppings in waffle cone cups. It was a hit!
Guests were greeted with directions to join our fun in the backyard and we included some chalk on the driveway for kids to play with. Along with a large popcorn cart so guests could grab a snack!
The cake was made by Paradise Cakes, from West Bloomfield & Every layer was a different Flavor! It turned out beautiful and tasted great! The beautiful cookies were all made by my talented friend Valerie. Cone cupcakes are one of our favorite treats, but apparently, they couldn’t stand the heat.. so no close-up photos of those will be provided lol
I came across free printable’s and used them in different areas of the party!
We had a large tent in the yard, with tons of hot pink & light pink polka-dot balloons. It’s important to stick to your color scheme in all aspects of your party to really make it come together and look bold. I used shades of Pink, Purple & Turquoise. Being it was her “Golden Birthday”, I purchased a gold number 1 balloon from Party City. Thanks to the wind, not all of the decor photos came out as planned!
I made sure to have a table designated just for the smaller kids, and found Ice Cream Cone bubbles at the dollar store that I used to line it with! Who doesn’t love bubbles?! We also had different coloring pages and crayons.
For goodie bags, each child took home an ice cream dish, with a coordinating ice cream spoon! I filled them with various candies, bagged, bowed and added personalized tags. I purchased the dishes from OrientalTrading.com! In the next few days, lots of our friends sent me photos of their children eating ice cream out of the dishes at home! I love giving out things that the kids can actually use!

Hope you enjoyed the gallery and details! This was the first kiddie party I’d thrown, and it was not as easy to plan and operate as I thought it would be! Catering to kids and a one-year-old girl can be quite the challenge. As I load up on blog posts, I’ll be including more of our events and hope to give you all some fun ideas!
